We were created by God to be loved by Him. God loves unconditionally, He doesn’t love you more when you do good or less when you do bad. Right now, God loves you with all of His love, He doesn’t love the bad things we do but He loves us.
Jesus shared an amazing love story about a father and his two sons, it is the story of two prodigal sons:
One son said, “Daddy give me my inheritance!” This son went far away from his dad and spent all his money with prostitutes living a sinful life. Well finally his money ran out and he was brought down low. Discouraged and frustrated, he said to himself, “Let me go back to my dad and tell him I have sinned and am no longer worthy to be your son, make me your servant.” He began his long journey back to his father. As he got closer, his dad saw him, ran to him and hugged and kissed him repeatedly. This son pulled away and said, “Daddy, I messed up, I am not worthy to be your son, make a servant.” His dad hugged and kissed him again and shouted to his servants, “Come quick, my boy is home, bring an expensive robe, a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet, MY BOY IS HOME!” His daddy didn’t care about all the wrong he did, he just wanted his son back.
God loves you like this. He will forgive all your sins and take you back. Jesus Christ died for all of your sins on the Cross. Your debt has been paid and God loves you. God has made up His mind about you – He wants you back. All that is left is for you to make up your mind about Him. God has made up His mind about you – He wants you back. All that is left is for you to make up your mind about Him.
Yet there was another son…
This son stayed at home and served his father, he was a hard worker and obeyed his father. He had never disobeyed his father’s commands and served with all his might. However, when he heard that his sinful brother had returned and his dad was celebrating, he got very angry. He refused to go into his father’s house and join the celebration. So eventually, his dad came looking for him and said, “Son, what is this I hear that you are not coming in to celebrate?” His son replied, “All these years I have served you and never once disobeyed you. Yet this wretched son of yours is back and you throw a party for him! He spent all your money on prostitutes and you accept him! Daddy, I have obeyed all your commands and you never once gave me a little goat to celebrate with my friends!” His dad looked at him broken and said, “My son, you are here with me, all that I have is yours. Your brother who was lost is now found and we should celebrate…” Sadly, this son is an example of a son lost in religion who thought that his performance and obedience could earn his father’s love. Love doesn’t work like this.
There are only two ways you can miss love.

The Cross of Jesus Christ
You can think, “I have sinned so much that God could never love me” or “I need to be good enough for God to love me”. Sin and self righteousness tries to rob us of God’s pure unconditional love. God will love you until you fall in love with Him. God wants more than your religion, He wants your love. The Cross is all about God winning our hearts through His amazing love. We love Him because He first loved us – 1 John 4:19
So you ask what must I do to receive this awesome love? It is simple: you must want it. You must want God and repent and turn to Him. We can be like the son lost in sin and have to repent and begin our journey back to the Father’s love. Your Daddy will shower you with forgiveness and clothe you with His salvation. We can also be like the son trapped in religion and performance, where we think our good works qualify us to be loved by God. God doesn’t trade in love, love is His free gift to all humanity; God is love. You must repent of thinking that your works can save you and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Saviour and His work for you on the Cross is the only thing that can save you.
Jesus not only offers you the gift of forgiveness, He offers you the gift of righteousness.
He will make you a new person from your heart and give you right standing with God. Jesus will love you until you love like Him. Jesus will make you righteous. So what does God require of you? You must receive His love, for a love that is forced ceases to be love. Why not open your heart today and accept His love and receive your salvation? God will give you the power to love, forgive and to be free from sin. If you want this, why not pray from your heart. Here is an example of what you can pray but do it with all your heart:
“Heavenly Father, I heard that you are in love with me. Who would think that God would be in love with me? Today I want to accept your love. Daddy, forgive me for all the ways I messed up. I believe Jesus died for everything that was wrong about me, He died for my sins. I believe three days later, He rose from the grave for my victory. I trust in you Jesus and not my works for the full payment of my sin. My debt has been paid. I choose forgiveness.
Today, I receive Jesus as my righteousness. I am righteous not because I live good but because You love me. Daddy, fill me now with your Holy Spirit and give me the power to love like you. Father, help me to spend the rest of my life loving you and telling people of your love and forgiveness. Thanks so much, today I become a believer. I believe your love for me. I love you Jesus, thanks for dying for me. I confess from today, I am a child of God!”
If you believe these words in your heart and confess it with your mouth, you are saved! Here are two awesome Bible verses:
For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Romans 10:10
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:8-10
I want to encourage you to do three (3) things that will help you in your walk with God:
- No matter what BELIEVE or TRUST in God’s love, forgiveness and righteousness
- Read the BIBLE and TALK to God
- Hang out with people that LOVE God. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to a good church. Hey not all churches are good so the Holy Spirit will help you. If you are in Trinidad, we would love for you to fellowship with us or just visit. Whatever you do it will work out because your life is now in God’s hands.
Let me be the first to congratulate you on your exciting journey with Jesus!
Love ya,
Kirwin
